Decker Music Studio students will study music according to individual goals. While some will choose music as an eventual career, others view music as an enjoyable supplement to their academic pursuits.
All students may participate in studio recitals, Decker Music Studio Community Flute Choir, and the annual Student Achievement Testing assessments administered through Michigan Music Teachers Association, hosted locally by Metropolitan Detroit Musicians League. Students in grades 7 - 12 are encouraged to perform for Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association Annual Solo and Ensemble District and State Festivals.
Instrumentalists who participate in school band programs assume leadership roles including outstanding achievements such as Marching Band Drum Major, Instrumental Section Leader, and Principal Positions. Some students audition for community orchestras and bands. High school students who do not participate in band programs will benefit from private lesson instruction that provides a curriculum of instrumental performance skills, solfege, music theory and music history. The most accomplished students become role models for younger students and assume senior positions within the studio. These students demonstrate the result of outstanding practice techniques, discipline, and leadership.
