What is Student Achievement Testing (SAT)?
SAT is offered through Decker Music Studio for the student who wishes to learn more about music performance and theory who has the self-discipline to do written homework, and who would welcome a challenge. I recommend SAT for just this student. This is a statewide test sponsored by Michigan Music Teachers Association and administered locally by Michigan Music Testing, a consortium of local private music studios. This comprehensive test includes performing three pieces and demonstrating skills in the playing of scales, sight reading, in written theory and playing by ear.
Each year the student progresses to the next level of difficulty. The performance test will be adjudicated by a local professional instrumentalist followed by a masterclass open to the public. Past adjudicators include Brandon LePage, Jeffrey Beyer and Holly Clemans.
